Brad Shepherd has practiced professional engineering for thirty-four
years as an electrical engineer and engineering manager in industry. He
has an additional ten years experience as a working electrician,
electronics technician and electrical project cost estimator in the
commercial, residential, aerospace and marine environment.
Brad has served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of
the Edison Electric Institute and as Chairman of the Distribution
Committee of the Southeastern Electric Exchange. He has served on
committees of The Electric Power Research Institute and the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is a member of The Florida
Engineering Society, and The National Society of Professional Engineers.
He is a Diplomat in The Board of Forensic Engineering and Technology of
The American College of Forensic Examiners and a Fellow member of the
National Academy of Forensic Engineers. His participation in and
supervision of lightning research studies resulted in significant
developments in lightning protection theory and technology. He was
instrumental in the evolution of underground cable design and the
development of underground electrical utility design standards. His
engineering cost studies and professional opinions have been accepted by
the Florida Public Service Commission, State and County courts,
Insurance Adjusters and Underwriters. He has assisted in litigation
support and served as an expert witness, and as a neutral Arbitrator. He
has provided investigation and consultation for adjusters in the
settlement of over one hundred fifty insurance claims.
